Being ill

Today I am ill. Yesterday I was ill, but even more so. Being Ill is strange. It’s like a different reality. All the normal rules don’t apply. All your normal habits are not appealing. It is a time to stand back from life and reassess your involvement in it. What do I need to change? What was it that made be ill?

Yesterday, I felt sort of flu-like. My energy was on the floor, and I felt extremely delicate. During the night I kept waking up, bringing up phlegm. But I did not have any cold symptoms.

I think the pathogen was not a ‘bug’ type thing (in bio-medicine terms); it was not a ‘virus infection’. In Chinese Medicine, this wold be called a Wind Cold Invasion, or Wind Heat Invasion. It was not either of these. But, strangely, I believe that the pathogen had come from within me. For a few weeks I had been taking on-board various negative energies from my patients, and as the season changed to Spring, my body took the opportunity to expel all these pathogens. So, it was sort of like a one- or two-day flu, but I did not ‘catch it’ from anyone. Hmmm, interesting.

About one or two weeks ago, I developed a strong pain in my left palm. This was around the acupoint Heart-8. The day or two before this started, I had treated two patients who had had a long term issue with symptoms related to the emotional aspect of their Heart. After treating them, I then adopted this strong cramp-like feeling on this He-8 point. It came in waves and was so strong sometimes, it would make my cry out, or even drop whatever I was holding. I was not at all concerned about this, because I knew it would pass it a few days. I often experience this in my healing practice. Doubtless the patients always benefit when this sort of transfer happens, and in me the symptoms takes the form a merely physical pain, which passes after a few days. It is this type of negative energy that had been building up in me for a few weeks, and I think this one-day flu-type illness that I had, was my body expelling all these pathogens as a part of my body changing the flow of its energy to adjust to Spring.

That pain in my left hand has gone completely, and I think there are a few other similar pains that have gone.

I was just standing at my kitchen window, watching my daffodils.
