The Trouble with Conversation:

A non-fiction book by Fletcher Kovich

Conversation may often seem to serve its purpose. But when you try to communicate about anything that matters to you, you may have noticed that communication can rapidly break down. This book explores the reasons why this happens. It clearly describes how and why our words, motives and intentions, are misinterpreted, and why we misinterpret other people’s. It demonstrates what it is and is not possible to communicate about, and to whom. It then goes on to also explain why all those unpleasant traits that you see in the people you dislike are, in fact, created by your own mind.

The Trouble with Conversation does not set out to teach you how to make small talk, or break the ice, or broach certain topics. Rather, it focuses on the conversations that you already have. It enables you to understand when and how your own current communication goes wrong, suggests solutions to the common problems, and also enables you to begin to see beyond other people’s often puzzling words and to recognise their true thoughts.
